North Canterbury Wine and Food Festival is on 3 March 2024?
A fortnight before our wine harvest kicks off, the North Canterbury Wine & Food Festival is on. We expect around 4,000 guests to join us under the oaks at the Waipara Domain just down the road from Fancrest Estate. We look forward to welcoming you to New Zealand’s most-loved little wine and food region for a celebration like no other.
You will find us between the DJ and the Jazz Stand, under the shade of the old oak trees so you can strike up conversations and friendships with other lovers of local wine!
See you there to take advantage of our special show prices.
What we'll be tasting..
We’ll definitely have with us our Fancrest Estate Pinot Noir 2019 and the Pinot Noir Reserve 2019.
We’re pleased once again to be providing possibly 2 older vintages for you to compare and contrast the seasons, as well as our roses, which as you probably already know, age beautifully like chardonnays.
This format has always gone down really well and we hope you’ll drop by to say hi to Ian and me.
Why does Fancrest not present wines from the last two vintages?
Fancrest has taken a policy decision not to release young wines before they are ready to drink.
This means we have taken the hard work out of it for you and done the careful cellaring ourselves. By the time you get to see our wines, the reds have spent two years on barrel, and around at least another two years in the cellar.
Fine wine is a living liquid. Its life comprises youth, maturity, old age and death.

Weather forecast for 2024 North Canterbury Wine and Food Festival
Weather forecast for Sunday has the possibility of some wet so bring a brolly.
Forecasts for North Canterbury have been pretty unreliable since the drought struck and most rain clouds evaporate into thin air before they get here. I’ve got money on it being a fine, maybe a bit overcast, day.
