Fancrest Estate Pinot Noir 2012
Rebecca Gibb MW tasted this wine in 2014, She describes it as follows: "A round and supple Pinot Noir that's both savoury and smoky. It shows good depth, suggesting low yields and a low level of fine grained chalk-like tannins. Firm acidity provides a fresh and linear finish. I enjoyed this better when it was slightly chilled, giving the wine extra poise."
Andreas Larsen (Blindtasted.com) tasted this wine in 2015 describing it as follows: "Medium deep ruby red with some evolution. Fine and complex nose, some meaty notes, wild berries, fine spices and discreet wood. The palate has good grip and weight, present but fine tannin, good dose of freshness, wild raspberry flavour and mild spices, really persistent and intense flavour with some meaty notes, long and intense finish, sexy and appetizing. 93/100
James Suckling tasted it in 2015. Here are his notes:"With bright, ripe mixed summer berry fruits on the nose, this has a really striking purity to it. There's a gently gamy edge too, and there's more complexity to come. The palate has impressive tannin shape, really fanning out nicely. Fleshy purple berry fruit flavors are cast alongside, holding the finish well. Drink or hold. Drink now. 93/100"
Cameron Douglas MS tasted this wine for Decanter UK and described it as follows: "A bouquet of intrigue with aromas of limestone and clay followed by fresh plum and red to darker red cherry fruit suggestions; some brown spices and toasty oak moments. On the palate, dry, savoury with plenty of oak spice and toasty wood attributes; older rose and a developing nutty quality; moderate to fine tannins, plenty of acidity and a tense structure just beginning to relax after some time in the glass. 91/100"
